Tree & Shrub Planting
Species selection and installation suited to Southwest Michigan's soil conditions, moisture levels, and seasonal temperature range. We're in USDA Zone 6a and 6b depending on where in our service area you are — that distinction matters for borderline-hardy species. Sandy Berrien County soils need plants that handle fast drainage and dry periods; heavier Cass County soils suit different varieties. Planting the right species in the right conditions is most of the work — establishment is easier when that match is right.

Pruning & Shaping
Structural pruning that improves plant health and long-term form — not just trimming for appearance. Timing matters: pruning spring-flowering shrubs after they bloom, and late winter to early spring for most trees before new growth begins. Michigan winters take a toll on woody plants — storm damage, dieback, and crossing branches that create disease entry points. We prune to address those issues, not just to keep plants to a size.

Tree Removal
Safe removal of dead, diseased, or hazardous trees with full cleanup and proper disposal. Southwest Michigan has significant emerald ash borer pressure — if you have ash trees on the property, they need to be evaluated. Removal close to structures, over utilities, or on hillside lakefront properties requires planning to bring the tree down in sections rather than as a whole. We handle cleanup completely — no debris left behind.

Hedge Trimming
Precision trimming of formal and informal hedges — maintaining clean edges and encouraging healthy, dense growth. Arborvitae hedges are common across our service area for privacy screening and need trimming at the right point in the growing season to stay tight without cutting into wood that won't regenerate. We work with what the plant needs, not just a calendar date.

Plant Health Assessment
Diagnosis of disease, pest damage, or environmental stress, followed by a clear plan to address the cause. Japanese beetle damage, verticillium wilt in maples, and drought stress in sandy-soil properties are problems we see regularly across Southwest Michigan. We identify what's actually happening before recommending a treatment, rather than applying a broad-spectrum approach and hoping it covers whatever is wrong.
